Jean (Laurence) Jones - Political Persuasion: Independent

I was born in Gardden Road on Christmas Day 1936 where I lived until I married and moved to 41 School Street, Rhos.  I was educated in Wern School and then Ruabon Girls Grammar School.  Following that I received training at the Croyton Civil Service College in Cardiff and entered the Post Office Department of Service in 1954 and having worked at various post offices in the region until I retired in 1988.

I was a School Governor for 42 years in 8 local schools both Junior & Senior, in the community and the borough and was a magistrate on the Wrexham Bench for 16 years.

I have been a Community Councillor for 20 years, where I am 1 of 3 councillors serving residents of Rhos Ward.

I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters who I spend as much time as I can with.

Sue Hallard - Political Persuasion: Independent

My name is Susan Hallard, but many of you will probably know me as Susan Jones. I have lived in Rhos all my life – mostly in Heol-y-Felin. For the past 11 years I have been happily married to John Hallard. I have two sons, a step-son, three grandsons and a granddaughter. I attended Rhos Infants and Junior Schools and Ruabon Grammar School. On leaving school I went to work for Wrexham, Powys and Mawddach Hospital Management Committee (now the Clwyd Health Authority) where I stayed for ten years, working my way up from Junior Clerk to a senior admin post as Clerk to Clwyd South Community Health Council. In 1983 I was appointed Clerk to Penycae Community Council, a position which I held for 32 years until my retirement in 2015. Also, from 1989 to 2011 I worked at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd where I was Clerk to the Governing Body and Work Experience Co-ordinator. I now work as  a volunteer for Nightingale House Hospice working two afternoons a week in the Rhos shop. I also organise money raising events such as quizzes and live band nights. I also produce hand knitted baby garments which I sell to raise money for the hospice. I am 100% bilingual Welsh/English.
