I was born on 21st January 1942 in Pentre Bychan.  I got married in July 1960 and moved to live in Ponciau.  I have been living in my present home since 1968, where I live with my partner John.  I have been a member of Rhos Community Council for Johnstown Ward for over 30 years and a school governor on both of the Johnstown schools longer than either of our Head Teachers.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the council and the schools, all of which I do to the best of my ability, and will continue to do so for as long as I am able.

I wouldn't change a thing for all the tea in China.

Ethan L Jones - Political Persuasion: Labour

I am Ethan Jones, Labour Community Councillor for Johnstown. I have lived in Johnstown since I was born in 1998. I became a councillor in May 2017 in hope of improving the community of Johnstown and the areas around it. I am an apprentice at Hayakawa UK, a cable manufacturing firm on the Llay Industrial Estate working towards a HNC in Electrical Engineering. I was a pupil at Johnstown Infants School and then Johnstown Juniors before going to do my GCSEs at Ysgol Y Grango. For a time, I was a member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, in which I spent time doing community work and personal development. I studied at Coleg Cambria (Yale) for my A-Levels in Mathematics, Physics and Politics and then at the Bersham Road site doing an NVQ in Engineering.

My goals on the council is to use the community council to make life better in Johnstown and bring people closer together. As a young person, I want to see young people having more facilities in Johnstown and make sure that young people’s voices are heard. I want to make sure I talk to everyone in my community and make sure everyone is listened to! Community council is the lowest level of government and it should be the closest to the people.

Geoff Foy

I have lived in Crescent Villas, Johnstown for 33 years. By profession I’m a town planner, urban designer and conservation planner which involves creating better places for people to live work and play through attention to housing, planning, architecture, design heritage, sustainability traffic and highways.

I chair a local charity which draws attention to good practice and tries to improve poor proposals in the built and natural environment and promotes community spirit through awards, talks and publications.

I have worked with 5 local authorities including Wrexham, I am currently self-employed. I know Rhos and Johnstown very well and consider that my background could help create and sustain a better environment for residents and contribute with the operations of the community council; the level of local government closest to the people. Since moving to Johnstown I have enjoyed playing for local quiz teams.
